Searching the Tall Grass [Encounters]

Ibb strode down the path out of Celadon City, her new companion Raja trotting happily at her heel.  The sun shone brightly, the Pidgey chirped in the trees, and it felt like the whole world was reflecting her good mood.  "This is it, Raja!" she announced, "the start of our journey!"

"Vree!" Raja trilled in return, hopping the next few steps in excitement.

"And no better place to start than in our own backyard, eh?" Ibb said, coming to a stop at the edge of the path, looking out over the long grass in the field next to her.  The first thing she needed to do was catch at least one more Pokemon.  Her mom had suggested trying to find something that could fly as soon as possible, but Ibb secretly hoped to find a Growlithe or a Vulpix, despite their rarity.  Both were handsome Pokemon that she was familiar with through her mother's Pokemon, and could add a lot to an Eevee line if they were bred appropriately.

Taking a deep breath, Ibb stepped off the path, Raja trotting determinedly ahead of her trainer, ears swiveling as she hunted for wild Pokemon.

What met Ibb and Raja wasn't either fire type they were hoping for. Instead, a glean of light reflected off the coin resting on a Meowth's head enough to draw attention. The feline Pokemon was currently digging at the roots of a tree, and something metallic was in its mouth. A habitual hoarder, it was likely that the Pokemon had found something sparkly within Celadon's walls and was currently burying his treasure. The object looked to be a Shiny Stone, either stolen from a trainer or happened upon remains to be known. Unlike some of his species, he stood on all fours.

The Meowth was too focused on his current task to pay much mind toward Ibb or her Pokemon. His ears were arched back toward the pair, though, so it was clear he was at least aware that something was in the area. The two could move on without issue and search elsewhere, if they didn't want to bother the cat Pokemon.
