Felix Marth (Complete, hopefully)
Core Information Name: Felix Marth Nickname/Alias: Star Raptor Age: 21 Gender: Male Birthplace: Jublife City, Sinnoh Trainer Classification: Adventurer Character Tracker: Physical Attributes Height: 6 Feet Exactly Weight: 182 Pounds Appearance: Felix is a relatively handsome young man, but not so much that he gets noticed immediately. He is peach skinned, with a slight golden tan and a well built figure. His hair is snow white and unruly. He has 2 bright red eyes that resemble rubies in a roaring fire. His nose is short and pointy and his lips are constantly kept in a tight smile. His attire usually consists of button up shirts underneath vests and comfortable dress pants. A pair of thick black biker boots keep his feet safe and warm. A loose tie always hangs around his neck and a gray wool cap, one worn by newspaper boys, rest on his head. A single gold ring rests on his right ring finger. The ring has a broad face with his family crest, a roaring Luxray, in the center. A small tattoo of a thrashing Magikarp sits under his shoulder blade. Defining Traits: He has a small tattoo of a thrashing Magikarp on his back, just under his left shoulder blade. Only a few people know it’s there. Personality Personality: A man of his word, literally. Felix has a heavy sense of honor and holds promises like they were the law. He has a very strong protective nature and a strong work ethic. When he sets his mind to something or promises something, he will make it happen, no matter what stands in his way. He is respectful of everyone, especially his elders, but still isn’t afraid to tell someone when they are wrong or when they bother him. When he is writing, he tunes out the rest of the world until it benefits him to look around once in a while. He takes inspiration from anything and everything he can. He is a very social man and knows how to handle himself in a formal setting. His high social status has made him some powerful friends, humbling him as he thinks about how he started. He values the enjoyment of life above all else. If he meets or sees anyone not seeing the value of their lives, he will set them straight. Sometimes his emotions can get the better of him and he can't control himself. When he gets too worked up, he always calms down by writing his thoughts on anything he can get his hands on. The death of his mother shocked Felix's understanding of the world. She had been his entire reason for working as hard as he did, and now that she was gone he struggled to find a new reason. Eventually, he found his inspiration in the world itself. He never left the city while growing up so he never saw the outside world. Now that he was able to travel the world, he intends to see everything he can. While writing ideas for his stories, he also enjoys writing about everything he sees. Strengths: Felix has a realistic view of the world, a strong moral and work ethic, and a very strong protective nature for everything and everyone, even if they don’t want his protection Weaknesses: Blunt, Stubborn, and occasionally doesn’t seem to care what happens to him as long as he finishes what he sets out to do. Battle Style: Felix’s battle style is one based around variety. He likes to keep his options open and won’t rely on any one tactic unless he is sure it will earn him the win. Each of his Pokemon lean heavily on one specific attribute, leaving the others at less than favorable conditions. Ex. One may rely heavily on defense but is slower while another one can be blindingly fast but not as strong or tough. This style may hinder him on occasion, but most of the time type differentials won't be an issue in the battle. Background History: Felix Marth; a nobody and just another face in Jublife City. He and his mother lived in a small apartment on the outskirts of the city, overlooking the forest. His family was poor and only the occasional checks from his father, who had a job in Kanto, kept them in their small home. Felix’s mother, Meredith Marth, was constantly sick with a bad fever and couldn’t leave the apartment. This made Felix the man and breadwinner of his home. He grew up caring for his mother as best he could but he could only do so much with what he had. His family didn’t have enough for proper healthcare and his neighbors would take turns sending them meals so they wouldn’t have to worry about cooking. Meredith used to be a teacher at the Trainers’ School before Felix was born. When she fell ill, she pulled some strings with the administration and got Felix into special, private classes with her old friend, Professor Marx. Felix reluctantly went to these classes, his desire to care for his mother causing him to refuse to leave the apartment on most occasions. But when he did go, Marx taught Felix something the young man desperately needed; he gave Felix an outlet. Most of the time, Felix was in his apartment caring for his mother, which made him unable to stop and enjoy the world around him. Marx taught Felix how to use his imagination to write stories, and made Felix spend time outside in order to gain inspiration for his writing assignments. These lessons caught Felix’s attention instantly. As he continued growing up, his life would cycle between caring for his mother and writing assignments for Professor Marx. And one day, these two world became intertwined. At the age of 16, Felix wrote his final for Professor Marx’s class. The assignment: to write a fictional short story about a true event from Felix’s own life. It took a solid week for Felix to come up with an idea for his story, when he realized what his life was; his mother. He got to writing, his fingers racing over his keyboard as he put his emotions to paper. He wrote about everything he could, excluding some private details that he wished would remain between him and his mother. As he wrote, he realized that he couldn’t include his own name because it had to be a fictional story. He changed a few details to make it about a baby Kangaskhan who has to care for her sick mother. He titled the story, “A Child’s Love.” After he turned in his story, Felix’s life went on normally until the school year would start up again. Almost a month later, he received a letter from an unknown sender. When he opened it, he was that it was signed by the Sinnoh Regional Book Society. The letter would change his life forever. It told him that the Society was amazed by his novel and they would be eager to publish it for him. Felix was confused. Were they talking about his assignment? Did these old book worms really love “A Child’s Love” that much? And how did they get it in the first place? All these questions buzzed in his head as he continued reading. They asked him to sign a contract, which they had enclosed in the envelope. They also sent him 5,000 as payment in advance. The letter promised another 5,000 if he signed with them. Felix couldn’t believe it. The money was enough to get his mother some decent care, and the other 5,000 wouldn’t have hurt him in the slightest. All he needed was to meet the Society and sign the contract. A week later, Felix, now 18, had a contract with the Book Society and was beginning to receive payment for his book sales. In accordance with his contract, he continued to write books for the Society. He chose the pen name, “Star Raptor” after the Pokemon that he had come to enjoy reading about. For a while, he stuck with kids’ books and lighter topics, seeing how they sold better then emotional stories about overcoming great odds. Some of these kids’ books included, “Buizel Learns to Swim,” “Buneary’s Dance” and “Giratina Learns to Share.” The money quickly rolled in and bit by bit Felix began to improve his life. The first thing he did was get his mother some medicine and some private doctors. Next he repaid his neighbors for supporting him and his mother all this time. After that he thanked Professor Marx who, as it turns out, had sent his story to the Society in the first place as part of a contest. After that, he began to save his money to continue supporting his mother. Suddenly, as he was writing ideas for his next novel, everything took a turn for the worst and his mother ended up in the hospital. Felix continued to throw money at them, telling them that the cost didn’t matter to him as long as she got well. The doctors did everything they could and Meredith became stable. Felix visited her every day and continued to pay for her treatment. This continued for the next 3 years. One day, as Felix was telling Meredith about his latest book idea, she stopped him. She took his hand and managed a weak smile. She looked him in the eyes, and told him the truth. She wasn’t going to make it. The doctors had told her and they agreed to keep it from Felix until she was ready. Felix couldn’t handle it. He began to break down but his mother squeezed his hand and told him she didn’t have a lot of time. She looked at him and told him her final wish. She wanted him to promise her that he’d enjoy his life and try to move on when she was gone. Felix struggled to find the words, but he eventually nodded and promised her. She smiled and thanked him for everything. She thanked him for all the love and time he had given her, and she apologized for not making it through this for him. They sat there and said their goodbyes before she passed away in her bed. Felix, now 21, single, and wealthier than he could ever want, didn’t cry at his mother’s funeral. He swallowed back his tears, because she made him promise that he wouldn’t cry. He went back to his empty home and began packing his things for his journey. He was a man on a mission. He was going to enjoy his life and do what made him happy; writing. His journey was to find the right inspiration for a new novel, a sort of sequel to ”A Child’s Love”. He just needed a beginning… Defining Moments:

Here's the archived posts, tied together with a nice little bow.
- Spoiler:
- Avaritia wrote:This is an awesome start, and there's only one thing that I'd like to be elaborated on a little more. I'd love to see more of his personality. It's a great basis, but I'd love to see how the death of his mother affected how he acts/his motivations. Also, how does writing affect his mood? It's a clear outlet and passion, and I really believe it can tie in nicely to what's already present in the personality section. What's the main cause of his emotions taking over and creating impulsive actions over his usual personality? Is there a way he gets out of this mindset?
With just a little more to the personality and I really think this character will shine. Awesome job, I look forward to reading what you add!Razmor wrote:Alright, added a little more to the personality. Hope it works!Avaritia wrote:Hmm, yes. A man still young enough to not quite make a place in the world, and struck so deeply so early as well. He has a future, though, and a goal in mind. And what a goal it is... authors aren't a typical profession when it comes to those that travel the world of Pokemon. Yes, perhaps one of these companions will suit Felix nicely:- Spoiler:
Litwick has a set connection with famed author and Elite Four member Shauntal, with Chandelure being her loyal companion. Besides, it can provide a warm firelight to write no matter the place or time.
Luxray is Felix's family crest, and what a better way of keeping family in his memory than raising its evolution line? These Pokemon are fierce and protective, able to aid their trainers no matter the situation.
Shieldon are known for being unyielding and passionate, just like Felix. Their extreme defensive capabilities do lead much to be desired in terms of attack, but it's just the stat to provide a variety and sturdy shield to valiantly take a hit for its less sturdy companions.
Drifting... drifting... drifting, that's all this spry Pokemon does. Its carefree and kind nature make it naturally bring people and Pokemon close to it, and they often try their hardest to make others smile. They're wayward and thoughtful, and no doubt-ably wouldn't let Felix lose touch of all the little joys in life.
Spoink's need to constantly bounce reflects well with Felix's unrelenting nature. Kindhearted, intelligent, this Pokemon is quite well rounded to his needs and would do whatever it could to assist him in both his writing and his journey. This Pokemon would know well when to give him space to get lost in writing... and when to make him take a look at the world a little longer.
