A rustle in the bushes it was indeed, yet before he even had a chance of checking the bush, a tailow flew out of it and smacked straight against Caspar's face. Tumbling down to the ground, the Tailow looked up, visibly angry at whomever prevented it from flying away and started calling out really loud. Suddenly, it started to glow and started scratching the ground with its tiny claws. The tailow was obviously focusing its energy...

Caspar stumbled and fell to the floor once struck in the face by the Taillow. Drexel moved to help him up before looking to the Taillow annoyed that it had hurt his friend, when Caspar was back on his feet he quickly looked to the Taillow too, noticing it using Focus Energy he wasn't sure of it's use in his team, so decided that this was just going to be a straight forwards training battle, rather than capture assignment. Caspar looked to Drexel nodded and called "Drexel let's do this okay? Use Thunder Fang whilst it's focusing it's energy, let's see if we can slow it down a bit" moving his hand to point to the Taillow as he'd seen others do in battles on T.V. Drexel growled, his large fangs filled with static energy as he prepared for the attack before launching forwards lunging at the Taillow aiming to clamp down and deliver a shocking blow; Caspar knew Thunder Fang had the potential to inflict paralysis on the opponent and hoped for that to be the case.

When the tiny taillow noticed the looming massive form of the aerodactyl flying up and towards him with static crackling between its teeth, the tiny bird pokemon was without a doubt terrified. Flapping its wings, it tried to escape, but wasn't fast enough when the aerodactyl's jaws snapped around the taillow's left wing, releasing a jolt which seemed to hurt it pretty bad.

However, it was a gutsy little pokémon and despite feeling the dread of the aerodactyl and despite having taken a rather large amount of damage, it quickly escaped, flying upwards in the air, where it hovered for a moment, squeaking loudly. Then suddenly, it dove down towards Drewel, with both its wings reflecting the sunlight, looking like metal.

Drexel looked to where it had escaped and tried to keep track of it but the sun reflecting off of Taillow's wings combined with it's speed meant he had no idea what the Taillow was doing and was struck by the attack not being moved by it due to his large size but definitely being hurt by it. He then growled lowly and Caspar quickly called across "Are you ok Drexel buddy?" Drexel nodding and Caspar following it up with "Okay then buddy let's try your Ice Fang" emphasizing his words by making a fist this time, Drexel smiled his teeth bared once more except this time they turned deathly cold and ice glinted on them before he lunged forwards after the Taillow aiming to end it or freeze it knowing of Ice Fang's potential side effect.

Even if it seemed that the aerodactyl had hardly sustained any damage, the pokemon's condition was far from perfect, as the attack he had taken was quite effective. The small taillow was certainly a fighter with guts to spare, flapping about and awaiting the aerodactyl's next move. However, it had gotten quite overconfident, not realizing that Caspar's Drexel had not only just thunderfang to maximize damage against flying types, but also ice fang.

With a hard, ice cold bite upon the poor taillow's tiny body, the fight was over, with the pokemon plummeting to the ground knock out. An easy win in all aspects it seemed.

(So Drexel is now Level 6)

Caspar leapt into the air cheering happily before running up to Drexel who'd turned to him and hugging him "We done it buddy, you're awesome" smiling not for the Taillow's defeat but for him and Drexel's victory he then let go and move over to the Taillow picking it up carefully and checking it over to make sure it was alright following their battle Drexel stood behind him pleased with his victory but a little concerned about the small Taillow however, after a few minutes the Taillow was alright and flew away. Caspar was happy he'd stopped to check on their opponent; knowing not many trainers did. Him and Drexel then moved off further down the path, soon overhearing a commotion up ahead, he narrowed his eyes in an attempt to focus, and could just make something out but wasn't 100% sure what; going up the path quickly to check it out.

(I let the Taillow recover and fly off just for the sake of journey progression)

The Taillow had fainted, but was not in any immediate danger, as it was still steadily breathing and when Caspar picked it up, it was already slightly flapping its tiny wings.

When the young man and the aerodactyl moved on and heard the commotion, they could see two people battling each other with their pokémon. One of them was a really young kid wearing a tracksuit and a headband, who seemed to be ordering around a cute, but ferocious little Poochyena. The other though, was a seemingly middle aged man wearing a nicely tailored three piece suit, who had a growlithe as his companion.

They seemed to be going toe to toe and hardly even noticed Caspar as he was approaching, though the middle aged man did quickly take notice of the aerodactyl, scratching his head for a moment, before getting back to his battle.

Caspar approached the battling trainers and their pokémon standing at the side of the makeshift battlefield. Caspar had noticed and taken note that the smartly dressed man had seen Drexel wondering what he was thinking. One thing that Caspar enjoyed about having Drexel was that Drexel always seemed to draw the attention thus no-one paid much attention to him. Caspar pulled out his camera and took a few shots of the battle ensuring he could capture the emotion in the faces of the trainers and their pokémon, happy with his work he put the camera away and continued to watch the battle intently using it to study different trainer's battle styles and just generally learn from observation which was something he enjoyed doing. Drexel stood there watching with him happily paying no heed to the older gentleman.

there was nothing wrong with taking pictures, especially since the youth and the older gentleman certainly didn't seem to mind. Eventually though, the older man's growlithe finished off the poochyena with a decent looking flamethrower. Giving the youth a pat on the head and a potion for his pokémon, the old man who now apparently seemed to be the kid's grandfather, checking the progress of the kid's pokémon.

"You're travelling with an aerodactyl," The old man suddenly said while walking towards Caspar with a friendly smile on his face. "Haven't seen many of those...well, not before they managed to clone them from those fossils. It's a nice looking example."

The old man's growlithe looked up at Drexel and gave a bark out of excitement, clearly intrigued by the rather big pokemon in front of it.

Caspar smiled looking shyly to the floor now that he'd been noticed he then said "Yes sir... his name's Drexel" Drexel then stepping next to Caspar and practically engulfing him happily to bring him out of his shell, Drexel feeling his shyness was becoming a regular occurrence that hopefully would fade through the course of his journey. Drexel then looked down to the Growlithe and grinned happily calling out returning the greeting.

The middle aged man gave grinned and looked at the Aerodactyl with obvious awe and interest. It was something Caspar might've expected from trainers and professors alike though, given that despite the fact that more and more fossils are discovered and more and more ancient pokémon yet again return to nature, an aerodactyl was still quite a rare sight and certainly in the hands of someone so young.

"I reckon you're on your way to the Rustboro gym, am I right?" The man laughed a bit, noticing that his growlithe was really interested in the aerodactyl. "Hmm...Perhaps a little match to give those two some action would be a great idea. Are you up for a little pokémon battle, young man?"

Caspar nodded "Yes sir, you're right, heading through Petalburg first on an errand though sir" in answer to the man's question on his destination realizing he probably divulged more information than he needed to in his shy, social awkwardness. He then looked up briefly as the man laughed noticing his Growlithe befriending Drexel and smiling once more he then heard the man ask about battling him replying "Are.. are you sure? you've only just battled?" Caspar then looked to Drexel and asked "Well Drexel buddy; are you up for it?" Drexel grinned nodding and pumping his fist happily trying to give Caspar some confidence which worked to a degree as he looked to the man and said "If you're sure then we'd be happy to sir" bowing.

He then quickly said "Oh.. sorry my manners... my name is Caspar by the way pleasure to meet you" extending his hand to be shook as was convention in meeting new people.

The gentleman gave the young trainer a gentle smile when Caspar seemed a bit concerned for the Growlithe's health, but to show that there was nothing to worry about the older man simply lifted the side of his vest a bit showing two more pokéballs.

"Growlithe, you can rest besides me while I'm using your sister for this match, ok?" The gentleman bend through his knees to pet his pokémon, before walking over to his earlier spot at the battlefield. "Young man, is this your first battle with another trainer?"

Before he could get his answer though, the middle aged man grabbed a pokéball and threw it onto the field, revealing a strangerly golden colored Growlithe. "Get your Aerodactyl ready, let's make this something good for the both of us."
