Learning a TM/HM

Once a TM or HM has been purchased and used on a certain Pokémon, that Pokémon will still not know the move right away. In order to alleviate this issue, they must specifically train in order to better understand how to wield their new move! To do this, all you need to do is make sure the TM/HM has been applied to your Pokémon already and make a training topic (which have been discussed here). In that training topic, the Pokémon trying to learn the move must practice not only using it, but maintaining its power. Finally after its hard work, it will master the move. We leave the majority of how it goes about mastering the move as well as how it's taught up to you, all we ask is that you keep it fair. So long as you do the training, you determine when the move is learned. This works on the honor system, and I doubt trying it out three times will suddenly make the Pokémon completely know how to use Flamethrower despite never using a fire move before! The less knowledge the Pokémon has toward that certain type and structure of move, the more training it should take. Because this is done through a training topic, they will also gain exp. and Happiness from practicing and learning the move. How cool is that!

Learning from a Move Tutor

Similar to learning a TM/HM, a move taught by a tutor won't be learned right away. In the instance of tutor moves, a similar requirement is needed. When encountering a move tutor, they will take command and guide the trainer and Pokémon through the steps required for learning the specific move they're teaching. They'll give you guidelines of what you should cover in your training topic, and it's up to you to follow their instructions and describe the mastering of the move. So long as you follow the advice the tutor gives, the move will be learned after training! Just like above, this is somewhat done on an honor system. The training topic will also yield exp. and Happiness.
