[Information] Starting Pokémon

Here at Pokémon Genesis, we have an interesting system for selecting the Pokémon your character will start their journey with. Once your character application has been complete, and only once your character application is done, the Moderator who has worked with you and approved your app will give you a selection of five Pokemon to choose from based upon the character you've written. The selection of Pokémon will not only be affected by the traits and experiences of your character but also how much effort and writing you put into them. Some points to keep in mind during this process are as follows:

• Things such as Personality, Battle Style, and even History will have an influence on your selection. Frankly, the entire app influences the selection. The more descriptions and insight in these aspects, the more likely the Mod will be able to find a Pokémon that best compliments the character.
  
• The quality of writing is the line between being offered a choice of common Pokémon or that of rare or even shiny Pokémon. The more quality you have, the better the selection will be. This is incentive to work hard on your app and rewards those who do.
  
• Stating in a History about interacting with a certain Pokémon over and over doesn't guarantee that Pokémon as one of the options. It does help clue the Mod into what your character may want and interact well with, but if writing beyond that is lacking, it is likely that it may not be an option.
  
• We keep in mind things such as if your character only likes using certain types of Pokémon so long as they're stated in the app! We can't read their mind, but we take everything into consideration so long as it's mentioned as a part of the character.
  
• The region your character is born in or has traveled to will also be a part of the selection process. It is more likely to get Pokémon that are connected to that region compared to others, but that doesn't add total restriction if we find Pokémon of other regions to be more viable.
  

All starting Pokémon will be level 5, and, providing that it is possible to have a choice, you will be able to decide the gender of your starter. You may then request one Egg Move for your starter to have. From there, your Mod will update your app with your brand-new starter! If you're dissatisfied with the Personality they've decided, you're free to request them to alter it.

Now, if you've decided that you don't like any of your 5 options, there's no need to fret. Instead, you can have a more traditional selection. Based on the region you decide to start your character in, you can always pick a traditional starter. In case you're unsure, the selections for each region can be found below.
